We aim to provide the advice people need for the problems they face and improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives.

There are four principles that all bureaux follow. These are:

1. The Service is Free

   This is regardless of

   • Whether or not you can afford to Pay
   • The Length of the Work
   • Who you are

2. The service is confidential

   Nothing you say will ever leave the bureau without your permission, this includes the fact that you even visited. All our advisors sign a confidentiality agreement. This means that you can freely confide in your advisor

3. We are Independent

   Whilst we receive most of our core funding from the local council, we will often challenge their decisions, despite the fact we receive funding from them.

4. We are impartial and objective at all times

   Our advisers will treat you equally regardless of your gender, race, creed or politics. We will simply explain the options and allow you to make your own decision.

   Citizens Advice Bureau is the charity for your community:

   • The charity based in local communities that tailors its services for them
   • The charity that helps people solve all types of problems (most other charities work with one issue or a specific client group)
   • The charity which prevents people needing to seek help from others ? we don't provide housing, we prevent homelessness (we have a prevention role as advice givers and influencers)
   • The charity that prevents problems before they become crises.

   Rochford and Rayleigh

   Rochford and Rayleigh CAB is a group of two offices which forms one bureau that provides the service described above. Your local CAB is the place to turn, whatever your problem, whether it is Welfare Benefits, Debt, Employment, Housing, or a faulty item you have purchased. We offer free face to face advice during Opening Hours.
